BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY

Blue oceans, in contrast, denote all the industries not in existence today such as the unknown market space, untainted by competition. In blue oceans, demand is created rather than fought over. There is ample opportunity for growth that is both profitable and rapid. In blue oceans, competition is irrelevant because the rules of the game are waiting to be set. Blue ocean is an analogy to describe the wider, deeper potential of market space that is not yet explored.

Red oceans represent all the industries in existence today (the known market space). In the red oceans, industry boundaries are defined and accepted, and the competitive rules of the game are known. Here companies try to outperform their rivals to grab a greater share of product or service demand. As the market space gets crowded, prospects for profits and growth are reduced. Products become commodities or niche, and cutthroat competition turns the ocean bloody hence, the term red oceans

ORGANIZATIONAL APPROACH TO MAKE DECISION MAKING

organization has to make strategic and rational decisions.there are 2 ways how to make a decision making.the first way by using CENTRALIZATION decision making and second way by using DIS CENTRALIZATION way.

the CENTRALIZATION means the process of transferring the decision making authority to the top management of the organizational hierarchy such as head office or corporate center.

meanwhile, the dis centralization  means the process of transferring decision making authority to the lower level of the organizational such as subsidiaries or department.

ONLINE FORUM: MOTIVATE AND REWARD TO EMPLOYEE

Dr. ummi ask us the question: What companies do to motivate and reward employees? Find one example of any organizations and describe the way that the organization motivate and reward its' employees.

My answer is Motivation is a behavior that can influence how employee do their jobs. the employee need to know they are valued, their efforts are noticed, and their good work is appreciated. Effective reward systems help an organization be more competitive and retain key employees. Reward systems also can enhance employee motivation and reinforce the image of an organization among key stakeholders or future employees.

I choose the Bank Rakyat as an example how they reward and motivate their employee. the way for Bank Rakyat to motivate and reward their employee by giving the bonus to their staff every year. As we know, Bank Rakyat always give their employee a big amount of bonus for example last year their employee get their bonus equal for 13 month salary and the company also bring their employee for trip to Beijing.

early BIRD get WORM, the second MOUSE get CHEESE

hi..based on the title of this entry..could you understand what is the meaning?hehe..when i heard it for the 1st time..i also confuse..what is that mean?it is a title of children story?or english punya "pepatah"?but after we discuss in the class, owh..now i can understand! we can relate this "pepatah" with economic maaa..

in short, what can i say it "EARLY BIRD GET WORM" means Sometimes in life it’s smart to learn from the risks others take, and the mistakes they make. The dead mouse in the trap saw the cheese and went for it. Didn’t work. But the second mouse, though still cautious, was in the enviable position of reaping the reward with no risk.

ok..that all..thank you :)

IF I BE A TOP MANAGERS.. ^^

if I am one of the top managers, the values that I would like to inculcate in my organization are:

1.  I want to apply Islamic environment in my organization. for example, before we start our duties, we will gather in meeting room and recite the Do'a and every Friday, we will do the "tazkirah" to enhance our spirituality.

2. I also would like to inculcate the value of "no gap between the employee and his superiors". That means the top management can hear opinion or suggestion or idea from the workers. Other than that, the top management can treat the workers like their friend and if they apply it, easy for them to know their workers' problem and complaints about the company.

3. In the evaluating the job performance, usually the top management will evaluate their workers but if I the top manager, I want to apply other method of evaluating process which means the top manager will evaluate the workers and the workers can evaluate the top management. so, other than we can know about the workers performance, we also can know about top management performance.

4. To make our workers motivated to works, as the rewards every years I will take my workers to the family trip. they can bring their family to holiday with the company. I also will give the bonus to our workers and to enhance the job performance, I will sent our workers to the training programs or seminar.

from my opinion, JAKIM is one organization that have a good culture. why have i say so?It is because I did my diploma practical at Relations Department at JAKIM. Every morning before we start our work, we will gather in meeting room. there are one person will recite QURAN and its translation and recite the do'a.

other than that, there are no gap between between top management and the employee. we can go lunch together and we can share with them anything whether the opinion, complaints, problem and so on.

OSHIMA JAPANESE RESTAURANT

how to become a successful businessman or businesswomen. it is not easy to open a company or restaurant or shop or anything that related with business. there are many challenges that they have to face before their business become successful. last weeks, dr ummi was invited Madam Asnidar Hanim Yusuf the owner of Oshima Restaurant to share with us about her experience before her restaurant become successful like now.

for our information, Oshima Restaurant is a Japanese restaurant food that provide a variety of Japanese Authentic food. Oshima Restaurant is only one restaurant that get HALAL certificate from JAKIM. there are many input that we have during the sharing sesion, but for this entry i want to highlight about the challenges and obstacle that Madam Asnidar faced while opening their business.

Like Madam Asnidar said, the 1st biggest challenges is it is very hard to get Halal Certificate from JAKIM. to get halal certificate, they must to make sure that they use halal product. in that year, in Japan, there are very difficult to convince the supplier to make 100% halal ingredient.

other than that, to start up a new business, we must a strong finance. that is the challenges that Madam Asnidar have to face which is difficult to get finance, loan or grant to open her business.  besides that, when the business was started, she must to face the human resources problem which are difficult to find the trustworthy workers and difficult to train the news workers.

from this discussion, what have i get is we cannot easily  to give up even there are many problem that we will have to face because from the problem we can know how strong that we are. there is not easy to become successful.

GENERIC STRATEGIES

salam..hi,,happy "weekend's day" for final year BCAR's student..actually, today we didn't have any class. so we can say today is weekend's day..:)

actually, dr.ummi has give us a task related with what have we learn this weeks. it is about generic strategies. what is generic strategies? generic strategies it is a strategic planning that can be adopted by any firm in any market or industry to improve its competitive performance.

for this task, i have choose MYDIN and i think they use FOCUSED LOW COST PROVIDER as a generic strategies for their firm. their strategic target is a housewife, student and the ordinary people in the middle class..

as we know, in nilai, Mydin's rival are tesco and giant supermarket. from the three supermarket, i think Mydin provide the lower price for it's goods other than tesco and giant supermarket. from my experience, last 2 month, i had buy the "colgate optic white" toothpaste at Mydin and the price is RM7.++, and last week, i went to giant supermarket and i want to buy the same toothpaste but the price is RM12.++ . so we can see that Mydin offer the lower price to it's consumer and i think their basic competitive strategic are successful because they can attract their customer to purchase with them.

to attract their customer, Mydin provide the lower price for their goods and it also provide the bulk goods for their niche customers.

why Mydin can provide the lower price other than giant and tesco? from my observation, it is because Mydin is a Malay company that sells "barang buatan Malaysia". it alsoacquired the stock of goods in bulk, so that why it can sell the goods in a lower price.
